In Biella, a major exhibition dedicated to Divisionism tells the story of one of the most radical points of departure in Italian artistic research between the 19th and 20th centuries. A journey through light, color, and experimentation that reveals the modern relevance of an artistic language capable of pushing past its own boundaries and reinventing itself over time.
From November 28, 2026, to April 4, 2027, Divisionism 1900–1930. The Mark of the Avant-Garde in Italy, curated by Niccolò D’Agati and Sergio Rebora, comes to life within the spaces of Palazzo Gromo Losa and Palazzo Ferrero. Two venues for a broad and detailed narrative that traces the transformation of Divisionism from a predominantly Lombard and Piedmontese phenomenon into a national movement that profoundly influenced new generations of artists.
Through more than 150 works - ranging from masterpieces by Giovanni Segantini, Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo, Gaetano Previati, Vittore Grubicy de Dragon, Emilio Longoni, and Plinio Nomellini, to leading figures such as Giacomo Balla, Umberto Boccioni, Carlo Carrà, Anselmo Bucci, Leonardo Dudreville, Luigi Russolo, and Guido Marussig - the project offers a new reading of Divisionism, focusing on its evolution in the 20th century as it established itself as one of the most innovative languages of avant-garde research.
The exhibition is organized by Palazzo Gromo Losa Srl (an operating company of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Biella) and Dario Cimorelli Editore, in collaboration with the City of Biella, Palazzo Ferrero, and Biella UNESCO Creative City, with the support of Gruppo Banca di Asti.
